Get to know the parts that make up who you are
Internal Family Systems Therapy in Steamboat Springs, Craig, and online
Does part of you want one thing while another part does the opposite?
Maybe part of you wants to speak up, and another part keeps you quiet. Perhaps you know exactly why you react the way you do, and you still can't stop it in the moment. You may have been told to think more positively, be less sensitive, or set better boundaries, and none of it stuck. Or you have an inner critic that never lets up.
Whatever it is, you may notice it in your life now:
Feeling pulled in two directions about big and small decisions
Reacting in ways you don't recognize, or later regret
Swinging between people-pleasing and shutting down
An inner critic that sounds louder the harder you try
Knowing the pattern and still repeating it
you can understand your reactions without judging yourself.
You can quiet the inner critic.
You can respond to the people in your life from a calmer, steadier place.
IFS Therapy Can Help
Understand the parts of you that react (the one that keeps the peace, the one that gets defensive, the one that goes quiet) and what each is trying to protect
Build a relationship with the calm, curious center inside you, which IFS calls Self
Respond from that steadier place, so hard moments stop running the show
My approach comes from a place of curiosity and respect. In IFS, no part of you is bad. Each one is trying to help, even when it causes problems. We never force a part to change, and we don't push into painful memories before you're ready. You stay in charge of the pace.
IFS was developed by Dr. Richard Schwartz, and it's the main approach I use in my work. I have advanced Level 2 training through the Internal Family Systems Institute and continue to receive ongoing professional consultation to enhance the work we do together.
You don’t have to be at war with yourself.

IFS is based on the idea that we all have different parts, such as the one that keeps the peace, the one that gets defensive, or the harsh inner critic. These parts usually formed for good reasons, often early in life. Instead of trying to silence them, IFS helps you understand them, so they relax their grip.
-
Mostly, it's a conversation. We notice what's happening inside you when something is hard, and get curious about it. Sometimes I'll invite you to turn your attention inward and notice a part, but you're always in control, and we go at your pace.
-
No. We don't push into painful material before you're ready, and you can pause at any point. Often the work begins with understanding the parts that protect you.
-
I can't promise a particular result, but IFS tends to be a good fit if you're curious about your patterns and have found that understanding them hasn't been enough to change them. It's okay if the language feels unfamiliar at first. I'll explain as we go.

It depends on you and what you want to work on. We'll check in regularly so you always know where we are.

Getting started is easy—just book a consultation call. We'll talk about what brought you here, I'll answer your questions, and we'll both get a sense of whether we're a good fit.
